Using the derive workflow to manage model changes for print preparation
If you have used a third-party slicer (for example, Cura, PrusaSlicer, or PreForm), you are probably familiar with how, upon launching such software, they often give you an empty workspace where you can insert your parts to be 3D-printed. Whenever we want to use Fusion 360 as a slicer, we can follow a similar workflow by creating a new design and saving it with a new name. Once we have saved our design, we can use it as an empty workspace to aggregate bodies and components from other projects or folders within our Fusion Team to prepare them for 3D printing. Figure 6.1 shows how to utilize the Insert Derive functionality located in the SOLID tab’s INSERT panel after saving our Fusion 360 design with the name Example A
