Optimizing the image


In this section, we are going to look at two ways of optimizing the virtual desktop machine. One is a manual, script-based process and the other uses an optimization application with a GUI-driven console. You might want to review what gets removed or switched off in order to ensure that the virtual desktop machine has the features you require and behaves as expected.

Optimizing the image using the commands.bat process

The commands.bat file is found as an attachment to the VMware View Optimization Guide, which can be downloaded from the VMware website using :http://tinyurl.com/7rzfw6b. Then, follow the next set of steps:

  1. Once downloaded, open the document in Adobe Reader and save the embedded files as follows. Click on the paperclip icon (1) to show the document attachments.
