Profiling data with SSIS

The objective of this task is to work with SSIS to profile the data to find the potentially wrong values. In this exercise, you will create an SSIS package with a single task, the data profiling task. Then you will execute the package to profile a set of data. Finally, you will check the results with the data profile viewer application.

Getting ready

You need to have installed the AdventureWorkDW2014 demo database for this exercise.

You can download the full database backup ZIP file Adventure Works DW 2014 Full Database Backup.zip from this link: https://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/releases . In addition, the backup file is provided with the source code for this book. Assuming that you copied the AdventureWorksDW2014.bak file to the C:\SSIS2016Cookbook folder, you can use SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to execute the following command to restore the database:

USE master;
RESTORE DATABASE AdventureWorksDW2014
 FROM  DISK = N'C:\SSIS2016Cookbook\AdventureWorksDW2014...
