Service Cloud data model

The Service Cloud data model builds on the Lightning Platform data model. The core CRM object types available in the platform are also available with Service Cloud, plus several additions. Cross-cloud data modeling is one of the primary responsibilities of a B2C solution architect, so it’s critical to know not only how the Salesforce data model works in general (as discussed in Chapter 1, De-Mystifying Salesforce) but also the specific Objects in that data model and what they represent. Storing the right data in the right place, making it available as needed, and synchronizing the critical components are all part of the B2C solution architect’s responsibility.

In this chapter, we’re going to focus on Service Cloud. In the next two chapters, we’ll take a similar look at the B2C Commerce and Marketing Cloud Engagement data models before starting to bring it all together.
