Bundle contents

It may be of interest to you as to what the bundle contains. Most files in the .jar are unreadable system-specific binaries, but if you opened the file, you would see the following:

  • NQSConfig.ini (11g version)
  • NQSConfig.ini (12c version)

Also, you will find something called the Business Intelligence Archive (BAR) file. This is a new 12c object, which gathers together three of the main OBIEE objects, and enables such an easy transfer process:

  • live.cat: This is our 11g Presentation Catalog in an archive format
  • live.rpd: This is our 11g RPD that has been upgraded to 12c
  • system-jazn-data.xml: This contains our security metadata, that is, our 11g Application Roles and Policies

Importing the bundle

There are two options for importing the .jar file into our new 12c system:

  • Configuration Assistant
  • BI Migration Script

Let's take these in turn.
