Summary
This chapter reviewed both Windows and Linux servers as proxies and repositories. We took a look at the differences in the proxy servers, as well as what was new within version 10 of Veeam Backup & Replication. We reviewed the different backup modes for the proxy servers and configuring them within Veeam Backup & Replication. We then took a look at the various filesystems within Windows and Linux that you can use for repositories, including both ReFS and XFS. We discussed how both Windows ReFS and Linux XFS could use a technology called fast cloning for fast backups and space-saving. We also discussed the setting within backup jobs that takes advantage of the Fast Clone technology when running your backups. After reading this chapter, you should now have a much deeper understanding of both proxy and repository servers regarding both the Windows and Linux filesystems. You should also now understand the ReFS and XFS advantages and how to use this when creating jobs.
