Lightning Web Runtime Components
Remember how we said that the mingling of the terms Lightning Component, Aura Component, LWC, and Lightning runtime component can get really confusing? Perhaps the worst offender of this nomenclature jam in the modern era is the nuances between an LWR and an LWC. To be as confusing as humanly possible, an LWR is a subset of an LWC. An LWR is just an open-source component designed to place LWCs in places beyond the propriety Salesforce properties, such as Experience Cloud, Site.com, or force.com. An LWR has the capacity to host LWCs outside of a Salesforce property or standalone application, and while it’s an open-source framework that is currently considered a vehicle for clean runtime, it’s still part of the LWC family.
