Partitioning and clustering examples
Over the next few sections we'll walk through multiple examples using a single dataset, starting with the basic partitioning approach, followed by each of our clustering techniques discussed a moment ago. We'll then conclude the section with a recap of what we learned from these examples.
Partitioning
In the next several pages, we will look at some partitioning examples using a new dataset, which is a network derived from some historical baseball data, specifically involving the Boston Red Sox. This dataset covers all seasons from 1901 through 2013 and has a handful of string attributes that can be used for partitioning purposes. There are also a number of numeric variables that can be employed for filtering and other uses, but these are not available for partitioning. Here are the steps to get started:
