Summary

In this final chapter, we looked at two techniques for creating surrealist images. The first used a set of curated stock images to turn the moon into a balloon that was tied to a chair. We replaced the original shadows on the floor and painstakingly replaced them with our own. We saw how most of the work involved correcting unwanted details from those stock images.

In the second surrealist project, we started with a series of studio shots taken specifically for the project. Each image was carefully set up to work with each other through post-production editing in Photoshop. We combined a shot of an iPad Pro against a white background, then superimposed a shot of hands, one holding an Apple Pencil. We then used a series of layers to reveal the hands with a clipping-mask technique.
