The Stack for technologies, standards, and protocols
Another way to use the Smarter Stack is to look at the different technologies, standards, and protocols that may be required for a project and across a smart building. Figure 9.10 shows an example of some of these. As new technologies and standards evolve, they can be added to the stack to visually represent where they fit in.

Many other potential uses for the stack exist, and there really is no limit to how you use it or what perspective you take. Other use examples include looking at the building life cycle, determining the requirements to develop a SPOG, or choosing a vertically integrated BAS.
Individual product and service offerings can be visualized on the stack to show how a SaaS IoT network app not only applies to the Apps layer but also the Delivery, Exchange, and Data layers.
