An explanation of CloudWatch billing
With all the interesting features we have explained in this book, it is quite important to know that CloudWatch, just like every other AWS service, is not free of charge. Although, AWS has a free tier with the following features, which AWS promises will be free forever based on the free tier link (https://aws.amazon.com/free). The following screenshot shows what CloudWatch can give you for free every month:

From the screenshot, we can see that you can get 10 custom metrics and 10 alarms for free. Custom metrics are metrics that you create manually from the logs that are being sent to CloudWatch Logs. This means you can create 10 of those for free. Anything more than that you will be charged for. Now, these charges vary from metrics to dashboards, alarms, logs, events, contributor insights, to canaries. The prices for these components usually vary from region to region...
