Using industry-aligned skills
The current learner experience works well when you have a somewhat limited course catalog containing mostly courses defined internally by in-house authors or contractors. However, most large organizations also include third-party off-the-shelf content in their course catalog.
Adobe Learning Manager is able to integrate this external content into its own course catalogs through either dedicated integrations (as discussed in Chapter 16, Exploring the Integration Admin Role), the ALM Content Marketplace (as discussed in Chapter 14, Working with Catalogs and Peer Accounts), or some kind of custom development.
Using this capability, you greatly expand the list of skills covered by the courses available on your account. This is great news for your learners and the organization as a whole, but it makes administering and tracking these skills a lot more complicated! Consider the following questions:
