Implementing identity models and authentication

As part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications and services, Microsoft Teams supports all of the identity models and authentication types supported by the service. The identity models are as follows:

• Cloud Identity
• Synchronized Identity
• Federated Identity

Let's examine the foundations of all three main types of identity.

Cloud Identity

Cloud Identity is the simplest form of identity. With this authentication model, the identity is stored and completely managed inside of Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and Office 365.
