The need for best practices
Today, deep learning algorithms are not just an active research area but part and parcel of many commercial systems and products. Figure 18.1 shows the investment in AI start-ups in the last five years. You can see that the interest in AI start-ups is continuously increasing. From healthcare to virtual assistants, from room cleaning robots to self-driving cars, AI today is the driving force behind many of the recent important technological advances. AI is deciding whether a person should be hired, or should be given a loan. AI is creating the feeds you see on social media. There are Natural Language Processing (NLP) bots generating content, images, faces – anything you can think of – there is someone trying to put AI into it. Since most teams consist of multiple team members working cross-domain, it is important to build best practices. What should be the best practices?
