Organizing the LookML environment

The LookML environment is accessed by significantly fewer users than the previous features discussed in this chapter. A LookML project is a restricted place managed by LookML developers/data engineers to prepare Looker Explores for self-service analytics. However, it is extremely important to keep your LookML projects well organized to make the work of your LookML developers easier and more efficient.

In this section, we will review the best practices for your LookML project organization.

Getting ready

In the left navigation panel, make sure Development Mode is activated and go to Develop | Projects | lb_thelook_ecommerce to get to the LookML project we explored previously in this book (you might have named your LookML project differently; find the one you used throughout this book).
