The duties of solution architects

Solution architects engage customers, business stakeholders, agile teams, external suppliers, and various IT teams to define and evolve quality technical solutions with an economic view of helping value at scale being realized faster.

Solution architects' duties are not distinctly different in agile software development, but the way of delivering architecture in collaboration with teams is significantly different from traditional practices. Agile solution architects and their duties are also not different across various scaling agile frameworks.

SAFe defines two architect roles in the solution space – Solution Architect and system architect. The roles and responsibilities of both solution architects and system architects are the same, with a difference in operating scope.
