An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) contains a configuration for creating EC2 instances. With a single AMI, we can create multiple EC2 instances. An AMI may contain the configuration of the virtual server, pre-installed software packages, root devices, and much more. It helps users to reuse the AMI for different EC2 instances. Amazon also provides an option for users to create a custom AMI that will include their custom configurations. Amazon also allows us to share the AMI with other AWS accounts and AWS Marketplace.
