Step-by-step procedure for setting up and evaluating an internet simulation topology
We have successfully completed various hands-on activities related to setting up wired, Wi-Fi, and heterogeneous LANs. Now, we will see how to set up a typical internet topology, which comprises various access networks such as LANs, Wi-Fi LANs, and Wide Area Networks (WANs) connected through multiple routers, as seen in Figure 4.15:
Figure 4.15 – A typical internet setup in ns-3
In order to set up the internet in ns-3, the following hands-on activity is discussed in step-by-step procedures:
- Set up two LANs: LAN-1 and LAN-2. Assume these LANs are in two different countries.
- LAN-1 and LAN-2 hosts are connected using CSMA links to the switch.
- CSMA link speed of 1 Gbps and a delay of 1 ns.
- LANs are connected to the internet using routers through WAN links.
- WAN links are a P2P connection speed of 1 Gbps and a delay of 1 ns.
- LAN-2 is also interconnected...
