Spotfire connectors allow you to connect easily to and analyze data from relational databases, cubes, OData sources, Hadoop systems, and other big data repositories. Using connectors, you can connect to a data source, view its structure, and select which data you'd like to analyze in Spotfire.

I recommend you take a look at this page—of particular note is that some connectors support much more than their advertised data source—for example, the Microsoft SQL Server connector works with Azure SQL databases...
