Getting ready for the screening interview
In most cases, the first step in the hiring process won’t be an in-depth and advanced technical interview.
We succeeded in passing the resume scanning step and getting an interview, but at this stage, we are among many other candidates that also had that luck. Yet, with so many candidates, the workplace must filter as much as possible with minimal effort before it moves to the next stage. That’s what the screening interview is all about.
Think of the screening interview as an oversized, coarse filter in the hiring funnel that needs to handle a large number of candidates in a short time. It also means we have about 30 minutes to impress our interviewer to move down the funnel while answering several important questions.
What does the screening interview include?
Most screening interviews revolve around three topics – the company, the candidate’s profile, and soft/hard skills.
