Defining the VSM process using the E9 methodology
VSM offers a holistic method to visualize operations and enhance value delivery, prioritizing optimization of entire value streams to focus on customer value consistently. Figure 4.2 illustrates the E9 VSM process, providing a comprehensive approach to continuous value stream improvement.
While E9 is presented linearly, the method operates like a network of activities occurring in parallel with feedback and iteration among steps. Additionally, an End state activity considers the eventual retirement of a product and the importance of life cycle management planning.
