Summary
In this chapter, we have introduced several important XMPP extension protocols (XEPs) that enable the functionality necessary to deploy real-world XMPP applications. These extensions and capabilities include server modules, DNS setup and SRV records, server-to-server communications, security, and scalability.
We have also introduced you to the XMPP Standards Foundation (XSF) and provided an overview of how XMPP supports new capabilities, such as advancements in multi-user chat, the Internet of Things (IoT), Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), and Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC).
We have also encouraged you to participate in the XMPP community to help address emerging needs, in the process benefitting all users of this open protocol. Finally, we wish you all the best as you develop your XMPP-based applications!
