Egocentric network analysis
Egocentric network analysis is a form of network analysis that is useful for investigating the relationships that exist around a specific person in a social network. Rather than looking at the whole social network, we will zoom in on an individual and the individuals that this person interacts with. Egocentric network analysis uses a simpler form of a network called an egocentric network (ego network). From this point on, I will refer to these networks as ego networks.
In an ego network, there are two types of nodes: ego and alters. The ego node is the node of an individual that you are investigating. Alters, on the other hand, are all other nodes that exist in an ego network. If I were to make an ego network based on my own life, I would be the ego, and the people I know would be the alters.
