Privacy and Data Protection Issues
Some of the mechanisms outlined in this chapter might infringe with legislative regulations in either the country you operate Moodle in, or with the rules of the organization for which the VLE is run.
The key issue is the storage of personal data in conjunction with usage information. Moodle stores such data that is potentially not conformant with some privacy laws.
While web log analyzers and tools such as Google Analytics do not store personal data per se, it is potentially possible to derive such information from IP addresses.
Before implementing any of the mentioned tools, make sure that you do not infringe any data protection legislation.
