Interacting with log-based reports
There are two types of built-in reports in Moodle: ones supplied with data from a log store and others generated on the fly without log store input. You can view the list of reports by going to Site administration | Plugins | Reports | Manage reports, as shown in the following annotated screenshot (the icons on the left indicate whether it is a course, system, or another type of report):

Here, you can see when a report requires a log store and, if so, which ones are supported. We will focus on (live) logs since they form the basis for log-based reporting, before moving on to statistics and analytics.
Remember that most information you retrieve from log-based reporting is also available to teachers at the course level. While educators use this information mainly in a pedagogical context (to monitor progress and measure performance), your role as an administrator is to view this data in...
