Patterns and antipatterns of alignment
Several years of consulting on information systems have led me to observe that most problems relate to a few misalignments in the system, themselves belonging to only a few patterns. Having worked for quite some time in a limited business domain, it was a surprise to realize after a few years when I started working with agricultural cooperatives, chemical risk analysis companies, lawyers societies, and other companies within very different fields, that these patterns (or rather, antipatterns since they cause problems) were the same everywhere.
Dalila Tamzalit, who is a researcher at French CNRS, took up with me to classify these antipatterns and document a method to find them and exploit information to better align information systems that suffer from them. This led to an article published in the International Conference on Information Systems Development in 2021 (available at https://aisel.aisnet.org/isd2014/proceedings2021/managingdevops...
