Describing workflows for application development
The recommended way to approach application development with the Yocto Project is to use either the standard or the extensible Yocto SDK as an iterative interface between the application developers and the system integrators. The latter feed the new software into the Yocto build system to produce and share new SDKs between the application and BSP developers.
However, there are other application development workflows that are useful and these will be introduced next.
How to do it...
We will see how the following development workflows are applied to application development:
- External development: When using Yocto SDKs
- Working directory development: When using the Yocto build directory
- External source development: When using the Yocto build system but configuring an external directory for the source
How it works...
Let's see how the different development workflows work in more detail.
