Viewing storage devices and datastores on ESXi hosts

VMware ESXi uses logical storage containers called datastores for storing files that back a VM. A datastore can be a VMFS volume or an NFS mount. Each ESXi host maintains a list of devices and datastores that it has access to.

In this recipe, we will learn how to view the available devices and datastores on an ESXi host.

How to do it...

The following procedure will help you to view storage devices and datastores available on an ESXi host:

Connect to vCenter Server using the HTML5 client.
Select the host from the inventory and navigate to Configure | Storage Devices in order to view all the LUN devices seen by the ESXi host:
