Viewing the datastores seen by the ESXi host


LUNs formatted with the VMFS or NFS mounts are generally referred to as datastores. All the datastores seen by an ESXi host can be viewed separately at the vCenter Web Client GUI or using a CLI command.

How to do it...

In this section we will learn both the GUI and CLI methods to list the datastores seen by an ESXi host.

Using the vSphere Web Client to view LUNs

The following steps will help you view the datastores from the vSphere Web Client GUI:

  1. Use the vSphere Web Client to connect to the vCenter host.

  2. Navigate to Home | Hosts and Clusters. Click on the cluster first and then on the host of your choice.

  3. Click on the particular ESXi host to view its page.

  4. Click on the Related Objects tab and then the Datastores sub tab to view all the datastores:
