SketchUp LayOut Part I – The Interface
When purchasing SketchUp Pro or SketchUp Studio, users are automatically given a second powerful application, SketchUp LayOut. To liken LayOut to AutoCAD, LayOut is the paper space to SketchUp’s model space. This chapter only begins to scratch the surface of what LayOut can do but gives you helpful information to get rolling in LayOut. In Chapter 13, we will pick up where we left off in this chapter by giving a tutorial on one way to format presentation drawings. By the end of both chapters, you will have fallen in love with the simple yet graphically appealing way to use your SketchUp model to create presentations or construction documents.
In this chapter, we will cover the following topics:
- SketchUp LayOut and its templates
- Introducing the tools and toolbars in LayOut
- Document Setup
- Importing files into LayOut
- Layer, Shape Style, and Text Style (or Fonts) panels
