Examining current capabilities and limitations of AI tools
When talking about AI tools, this really means GenAI systems that are either fine-tuned for a specific use case or are in generic forms. Often, you will hear people talk about GenAI in conversations and this is referring to the models that we’ve talked about so far: Google’s Bard or Gemini, Amazon’s Q, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and so on. These are the chatbot systems that allow us to interact directly with the LLMs developed for generative text content.
Conversely, when people discuss AI tools, what they are referring to are specialized forms of these same LLMs or purpose-built LLMs for a given need. Table 14.1 below gives a current-as-of-writing snapshot of the top 10 AI web products based by site visits.
