Notification tricks

Notifications in Slack are a powerful thing. They can encourage immediate actions and responses from your team members, but they can also distract or overwhelm and thus obstruct positive collaboration. Slack has created some helpful tools when it comes to their notification systems that continue to bolster a space of focused connection.

Default Do Not Disturb hours

As we explained previously, DND is a resourceful tool for any team member who wishes to create a work/life divide. This also creates clear boundaries for team members that maintain one another's privacy.

Workspace owners and admins can create default DND hours that are specific to a workspace. Slack notifications will not be sent to either desktop or mobile platforms during this time. Individual team members can set their own DND schedules that work best in their workflows. However, setting a default encourages all team members to break from their work and focus on other things.
