Hardware and software maintenance

Going back to the AWS Shared Responsibility Model, it was slightly modified for AWS Outposts. You are responsible for capacity management and, for this task, your procedures and practices used for monitoring Outposts will directly impact business continuity and application uptime.

However, the availability and security of the Outposts infrastructure, including the power supplies, servers, and networking equipment within the AWS Outposts rack, continues to be the responsibility of AWS, as well as the managed software components and AWS services that run on Outposts, such as the following:

  • Firmware
  • Virtualization hypervisor
  • Storage systems

To fulfill this task, some form of monitoring is also required, and Outposts comes with all the necessary monitoring capabilities that allow AWS to collect telemetry and metrics from Outposts subsystems.
