Creating complex costume pieces using DynaMesh, IMM brushes, and kitbashing
DynaMesh is a great choice for creating new designs for accessories as it lets you create complex, detailed models quickly without having to commit to the topology of a mesh, as is the case with regular polymodeling. In this section, you will learn how to design complex armor parts for your gladiator model using DynaMesh, a custom IMM Curve brush, and kitbashing.
Kitbashing is the process of taking pieces from previously created models and combining them to create a new model, or simply adding them to a design to create additional detail and visual noise. This technique is great because of its efficiency and speed in creating complex objects without having to create everything from scratch. The bigger your 3D asset library, the more powerful this becomes. Here are some examples where kitbashing is used to add interesting detail to character designs:
