A learning journey


There is nothing at all wrong with a Moodle course starting as a list of links to other resources, for example resources uploaded to Moodle or those that exist already somewhere on the Internet—indeed, that's how we began this book. As we want to include a quiz, or a forum, or a peer review workshop, then it becomes more critical that, rather than our students dipping in to a basin of knowledge and spooning out what they fancy, we would want to be careful that they make more of a formal "learning journey". How do we know that students have viewed a resource or attempted a particular activity? That's the purpose of the completion tracking feature. How do we guide our learners on their learning journey? That's the purpose of conditional activities. Completion tracking and conditional activities are described in the next two sections.
