Apart from the computers, AD supports a few other devices and object types as well. In this section, we will look into these different object types:
- Printers: Printers are one of the most commonly shared resources in office networks. We can use several methods to configure shared printers in user computers. We can set them up using the printer setup wizard in Windows and connect to a printer via an IP address. We can also use logon scripts to map and install printers in workstations. If an organization uses printer servers, we can connect to it and install the printers, too. In an AD environment, we can register the printer as an object in AD. This will allow the users to browse AD, find the relevant printer, and then install it to the workstation.
