As you begin to use your Mailchimp account, you will discover that there are settings you can adjust. Changing these settings will make sure that you can more easily adopt analytic and benchmarking features further down the line. In general, taking these kinds of initial steps helps to ensure that you get the most pertinent results for your marketing efforts.
That being said, if you already have your account set up, you can go directly to Chapter 3, jump right into working with your audiences, and then can come back to this section later to check your settings. Some of the things we’ll be setting here include indicating your industry so that Mailchimp’s data-backed infrastructure can serve you benchmarks for your performance, and setting details about your business to streamline how data populates later. We’ll take a look at some of these benchmarks in Chapter 10 when we review some reporting features.
