As-is process
In this series of workshops, you will need to discover how invoices are validated currently. We are going to invite Paul, Melanie, and Beth, introduced in Chapter 5, Understanding the Business Context.
- Paul, the department manager, in his role as product owner, needs to fully understand the current process. He is responsible for the project's vision and overall goals. He might have to make tough decisions when we design the to-be process later.
- Melanie, the team manager, represents the operations management perspective. She knows the overall process, as well as connections to other systems and departments, and is responsible for process performance and transaction costs.
- And you need Beth, as the expert in the actual invoice validation process. She knows all the nitty-gritty details. Later, she will tell her colleagues about the new process, application, and the huge improvements for everybody.
