A few important best practices

There are a few best practices that we can utilize when considering the use of special dependencies:

• Educate your team members and all the stakeholders about the meaning of special task dependencies and how special dynamics are expected of their deliverables.
• Recognize that the FS dependency (with the ASAP constraint) is the default task mode and easily should make up 90-100% of all dependency types.
• There is an additional maintenance cost to adding realistic complexity to your schedule. It is a project managerial skill to choose the level of abstraction that is suitable.
• It is often possible to avoid special types of task dependencies or convert them into the FS type.
• A thorough study of the schedule network diagram will help uncover the optimal design for your project's plan.
