Manually tracing a red wax seal

In Chapter 7, SVG Filters we created a red wax seal using filters. In this recipe we will recreate the same kind of lighting found in that drawing, using more objects that will serve as shadows and highlights, and the additional help of our good friend, the Blur filter.

How to do it...

The following steps will demonstrate how to recreate the red wax seal lighting:

1. 1. Open the RedWaxSeal.svg file from Chapter 7 and copy the seal into a new document.

2. 2. Make a bitmap copy (Alt + B) of the seal that will serve as a reference and move it away.

3. 3. Create three new layers above the current one, name them "insider", "stamp area", and "Inkscape logo".

4. 4. Move the Inkscape logo object to the Inkscape logo layer (Shift + Page Up). Move the circle stamp area object to the stamp area layer (Shift + Page Up)

5. 5. Select all of the three wax seal objects and remove all the filters by going to Filters | Remove Filters.
