This chapter has looked at encryption as a method of securing data and communication covered which its early methods and how automation was applied to encryption making it more secure and reliable. We explored the different types of encryption and some methods of encryption; data in storage and data in transit. Alongside this, we also discussed encrypted web connection, and encrypted email servers. The most commonly used encryption algorithms have been discussed and wherever possible, the time it takes to break them has been highlighted. Lastly, the challenges to encryption as a security measure have been discussed and these include brute force attacks, cryptanalysis, and the threat of increased computational power.
The next chapter will look at a leap in finance and technology, Blockchain. We will discuss the Blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and the challenges...
