Summary
This was the first chapter that covered the execution part of the platform product management. We started by understanding the platform roadmap and its relationship with the business and platform strategy. Then, we looked at different roadmap elements and how the platform roadmap is different from the linear product roadmap.
While exploring how to create the roadmap, we understood that platform roadmap creation consists of three phases: defining platform capabilities, defining the platform MVP, and creating the platform roadmap. Each of these phases has its own steps and sub-steps. For example, defining platform capabilities includes mapping an end-to-end user journey and extracting capabilities from that journey.
Similarly, defining the MVP involves the prioritization of capabilities and touchpoints. And, lastly, roadmap creation involves the definition of milestones and organizing capabilities against milestones. We also noticed how each of these steps is different...
