The screen resolution and density factors are universal. They are not tied to a specific type of device or a specific platform. The problem of how to handle different resolutions has been around for decades. More recently, screen density also has become a common topic.

We need to familiarize ourselves with some basic terminology (the numerical examples in the following paragraph will refer to my Google Pixel 3a smartphone, featuring a 5.6" display with 2220 x 1080 resolution and a 441 ppi screen density):
- The screen size is the measure of the diagonal of the screen in physical units (inches generally), that is, pixel 3a has a 5.6 inch display (14.22 centimeters).
