Extending Viva Connections with Adaptive Card Extensions

Viva Connections experiences can be extended with Adaptive Card Extensions (ACE) using SharePoint Framework. Adaptive Card Extensions are used to bring custom experiences to the Viva Connections Dashboard, which is shown on the Viva Connections Home Experience and can be added to the SharePoint Home site using the Viva Dashboard web part. Viva Connections is introduced in Chapter 10.

Adaptive Cards Extensions have two layouts: medium and large.

Anatomy of the card contains:

Icon, which can be a Fluent UI icon or custom icon. A custom icon needs to be 24x24 pixels in size, with a transparent background, and either in PNG or SVG format.
App name beside the icon, which should describe the card, for example, Safety or Time off.
Header section, which should include a descriptive header or action.
