Summary
As we worked through this chapter, we learned several ways through which we can adapt our roadway corridor modeling techniques and workflows and apply them to our rail design, all while introducing a new dataset entirely. We learned how we can define and configure our alignments, profiles, assemblies, and corridor models for both main railroad and auxiliary track alignments and how we can specify industry standards for our modeled objects to ensure that we are following design requirements for our projects.
In the next chapter, we’ll begin exploring how we can introduce LiDAR and Reality Capture to supplement any additional existing conditions data received and used to develop our existing conditions model. We’ll also introduce Autodesk ReCap and learn how we can use it to our benefit to essentially complement our Civil 3D designs.
