Expediting project work with file templates
Creating a new drawing is the easy part; understanding the best way to create a new drawing can be a bit trickier. In this section, we’ll review best practices for creating a new drawing that will drive efficiency and consistency in our designs moving forward.
As mentioned in the previous section, using drawing templates to create new drawings is ideal. Since we’re just starting fresh and haven’t developed our own custom drawing template as of yet, we will create a new drawing using one of the out-of-the-box templates that are made available when installing Autodesk Civil 3D.
To set Civil 3D up to use the correct drawing templates when creating new drawings, first you need to go to the top left of your Civil 3D session, open up Menu Browser, and select Options, as shown in Figure 2.15:
