Configuring Alfresco to receive e-mails


We have seen how to send e-mails from different events from Alfresco. Another quite useful feature of Alfresco is that, the system can automatically pull e-mails, just like a standard SMTP server does, and store the e-mail messages in the repository along with all the attachments.

This is known as the inbound e-mail service of Alfresco. For example, you can configure a particular e-mail ID in Alfresco and whenever any e-mail is sent to this ID, the e-mail content is saved into the repository automatically. This can be used as a very efficient and useful way to store important information in the repository. No more manual copy, uploaded via the web application or any other systems.

Getting ready

First we will configure Alfresco for the inbound e-mail services.

  1. 1. Open the alfresco-global.propertiesalfresco file from \tomcat\shared\classes folder. As you know, this is the file where global properties and settings of Alfresco is stored and managed.
