Processing Using ssdef Records

Again, the sole purpose of the ssdef file is to hold spreadsheet header definitions, which are then matched against a spreadsheet. As mentioned earlier, a match must be an exact match.

Once a match to a spreadsheet is made, the system knows how to recognize a header line on the spreadsheet. Once the header line is recognized, the system can tell the difference between a header line and the other lines in the spreadsheet. Using that information, the system can then read the spreadsheet and determine the context of each value on the spreadsheet.
