CSMSs
CSMSs serve as the strategic framework for safeguarding critical control systems from cyber threats. By implementing a CSMS, organizations systematize their approach to cybersecurity, bringing order and structure to their initiatives. A CSMS outlines policies, procedures, and controls that are essential for assessing risks, managing vulnerabilities, and responding to incidents. This organized approach is critical for prioritization – helping companies focus on the most crucial vulnerabilities and allocate resources effectively to areas with the highest potential impact. Figure 5.2 shows the various components of a CSMS framework:

In the context of a CSMS framework, policies, procedures, standards, and baselines are crucial components that provide structure and governance to an organization’s cybersecurity efforts:
