Restoring data from a secondary DPM server

This recipe will cover how to restore data from a secondary DPM server and what limitations there are.

Getting ready

The concept of having a primary and secondary DPM server is based either on the standard DPM-DPM-DR scenario or on chaining. The result has the protected data sources that are hosted by the workload application on a secondary off-site location.

How to do it…

In the secondary DPM server console, go to the Recovery view and choose the data source, the point in time for the restore, and right-click on the object and choose Recover… to start Recovery Wizard.

The Recovery Wizard consists of five steps:

  1. Review Recovery Selection
  2. Select Recovery Type
  3. Specify Recovery Options
  4. Summary
  5. Recovery Status

In Review Recovery Selection, DPM will present to you the data source that you have chosen to restore. Verify the information and click on Next > to continue.
